Strawberry bread.
Up until a few days ago, I’d never even heard of strawberry bread. And there I was yesterday, sinking my teeth into a taste of summer to come.

The picture doesn’t do it justice. It was good – and, I think, will be even better in the summer, when we’ll be able to buy really fresh and juicy strawberries from local farmers.
And I’ve got Twitter to thank for this lovely slice of summer!
On Saturday, I’d popped over to Twitter just for a few quick tweets and see what people were up to.
I was in luck. Kristin Callender (@KCBOOKS on Twitter) tweeted something about her kids loving the strawberry bread.
I was like, strawberry bread?
I want some!
Kristin graciously sent me the link to this recipe. I printed it out and gave it to Ward with high hopes. “This sounds sooooo good,” I enthused. “I’m dreaming of strawberry bread now.” Hint, hint, nudge, nudge.
Luckily for me, he decided to give the recipe a try. I’d read the comments and suggested less cinnamon and more strawberries might be good, so he fiddled with the recipe and …
it was perfect!
Here’s Ward’s version of the recipe.
I’m now thinking of all the other fruits we can try with this recipe – peaches, blueberries, raspberries, pears … The possibilities (and deliciousness) seem endless.
Up until yesterday, I’d only ever had dried fruit bread – I love the idea of sweet bread made with fresh fruits. Do you have a favorite fruit bread recipe?

Seriously? You haven’t had banana bread before? This must be remedied.

That’s so funny! I didn’t think of banana bread at all! It wasn’t thinking of it as fresh fruit bread to me because the banana is always so well integrated into the mix.
That does sound delicious!

I love fresh fruit bread, although I admit to never having had strawberry. But combinations are wonderful too: a mix of blueberries and raspberries, for example. And bran adds a wonderful nutty edge to it all too (one could make it in the form of muffins).

Yum…it looks a bit like strawberry scones, which are also delicious.
I sure hope you know how lucky you are to have a man who cooks like that!
Whenever I do forget, he whips up something else scrumptious and then I remember again! (I think the way to my heart is definitely through my stomach …)
Strawberry bread? I’m in! Thanks for the link – that sounds really, really good

Ooo, or a mix of various fruit combinations. That would be yummy indeed.
I remember seeing a recipe for strawberry bread (I believe on Nicole’s blog–Linus’s Blanket–but could be wrong) and thinking that would be a nice treat to make one day during the summer. (I have a couple strawberry bushes, so I can’t wait for them to fruit so I can pick them and eat ripe warm strawberries…before the birds get to them.)

Yum. That does sound good. The only kind I’d had before was banana.

I really might be the only book blogger in the world who just can’t seem to get into the twitter thing.
The strawberry bread does look delish, though! I might have to try some myself!

That looks absolutely delicious! I must get some strawberries and make it. Thanks for sharing. =)
I’m hungry! I hope I’ll be buying strawberries again this year. Every time Dave has planted them, we moved, so I banned planting them ever again. Did he listen? No, but he hasn’t had time for a garden since the ban.

Ward’s recipe looks so delicious. I’m going to find some strawberries this weekend just to make this recipe. We are getting fresh ones here in California now.

Oooh, Ward’s recipe sounds delicious. Will have to give my oven a work out.
I have made peach muffins and blueberry muffins before, and of course the requisite banana bread. However, my favorite is my mom’s fresh rhubarb muffin recipe. It is to die for.
