Great review. This has been on my "to read" list for a while. I love literary books with a fantasy or sci-fi twist - especially when they stand alone and I don't have to commit to the whole series. I've now added it to my library request list.

You have such a way with words, Belle! "I was dazzled by Mieville's skill..", "The City & The City vividly demonstrates, too, that separation and boundaries can, indeed, be fashioned from nothingness, and perhaps even more disturbing, the role we ourselves play in the maintenance of such illusions..." ----what beautiful language!

I am adding this one onto my TBR list.

I'm so glad to hear this is as good as it looks! It just came onto my radar in this month's issue of Bookmarks. Definitely adding it to my wish list.

I've been thinking of giving Mieville another go, and this sounds like the perfect book with which to do so. I'll add it to my Tiny TBR wishlist.

You got my attention when you said this could be the best book you've read this year. That's a great endorsement.

I've read a couple stinkers in a row, so I could really use a book like this right about now.

Mieville's been on my radar for awhile now, but I think this book was the first I added to my wishlist. I definitely want to read it!
