On Writing: And When Those Words Flow

by Belle on June 3, 2009

Today’s word count: 1724 words.

The writing went extremely well today; the best session I’ve had since I started working on my daily goal of 1000 words or half an hour of writing. So obviously the changes I’ve made were the right ones.

I didn’t feel particularly enthusiastic about sitting down to write today, either. It wasn’t like I was in any kind of rush to sit down and get to it. I did it because I knew I would have to write this post and I needed to sit down for half an hour and write something. Anything.

But then when I did sit down, it was easy. The words just flowed. There were a few rough spots, where I found myself searching for the right word, but on the whole, there was an ease to it that was very enjoyable. I didn’t stop until I had finished the scene, and I hadn’t meant to do that.

I’m getting there! I’ll be deleting and rewriting another scene tomorrow. At the rate I’m going, I might actually have a completed manuscript to revise by the end of the summer.

Congrats! Doesn’t it feel great when a scene just comes together when you least expect it?

Congratulations!! You’ve been doing an excellent job so far, and you are definitely an example. I need to get myself settled down, set a word count/time limit goal, and just do it.

I am not going to tell you how few words I write right now, but even if I have had two long exam days, I wrote a good & precise writing exercise for my course yesterday.
