On Writing: 1125 Words

by Belle on May 31, 2009

Today’s word count: 1125 words.

I finally finished up tomorrow’s two giveaways posts at 1:10 a.m., and it was so late – but I had to sit down and write. So I think this daily progress report is working.

Also, half an hour, or 1000 words, my choice, really works for me. Half an hour is not a long time, unlike an hour, which on anticipation can seem too long. Today I wrote for 35 minutes. The first twenty minutes were difficult, and I had that thought again that the writing was too awkward.

But then I remembered how, on rereading the pages I had already written, I couldn’t detect any inconsistency in the flow or the rhythm – despite the fact that there were many occasions where I felt the words weren’t working.

You’re doing great! I think I’m going to start writing for 30 minutes a day. See you’re inspiring others! =)

That is wonderful! It really helps motivate me to know that others are working on similar goals.

You made great progress! 1125 words in just over half an hour is wonderful. Are you still working on the mystery novel, or have you started a new project?

I am still working on the mystery novel. It’s kind of a paranormal mystery police procedural. But I was digging around in my files, and there are three other novels I’ve started that I would love to finish, too. One is a chick lit mystery, one is a urban fantasy thriller/suspense/action and one is a children’s fantasy. I wonder how one keeps on track & works on each story one at a time; or maybe it’s okay to switch around, much like I do with my reading!
